Description

We are looking for a full-time teacher to join our growing preschool. The position opens mid-April 2026, to replace a teacher who is moving mid-school year to Southern California. 

 

ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Cole Valley Gan Preschool (www.ColeValleyGan.com) is a Jewish play based child-centered program, and follows developmentally appropriate practices. We are looking for a teacher to join the Kita Alef classroom, for children ages 18 months - 3 years.

Our teachers work in collaborative teams to plan engaging and unique learning experiences. At the Gan, we believe play is at the heart of learning. Our intentional, hands-on approach encourages children to explore and express themselves through movement, art, language, and play. This discovery-based learning nurtures imagination, curiosity, and confidence while building a strong foundation for thinking, problem-solving, and growth from early childhood and beyond.

Our mission is to lovingly nurture each child’s connection to their Jewish identity while caring for their emotional and physical well-being. In a joyful and welcoming classroom, imaginations are encouraged to soar, learning feels meaningful, and every child feels deeply loved and valued.

  • Compensation is based on experience and education, between $28 - $38 per hour.

TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To maintain and implement procedures to ensure the health and safety of the children
  • To establish and maintain positive, professional, and effective communication and supportive ties with children, staff, and parents.
  • To see relationships as the foundation of our wark and view children as being competent and capable. 
  • To interact with children in a manner that reflects respect and compassion
  • To understand, and articulate the philosophy of the school
  • To maintain professional standards and conduct and a positive work ethic
  • To respect the confidentiality of school-related information
  • To implement the emergent curriculum with co-teachers and the assistant Director according to the philosophy of the school
  • To participate in the documentation and keep track of development growth using our school Early Childhood Development Tracker. 
  • To attend all staff meetings and professional development opportunities
  • To assume an equal share of the joint housekeeping responsibilities of the staff
  • Intentional, ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, and appropriate classroom and play yard learning environment
  • To ensure that health and safety practices as well as the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of children are maintained in their classroom

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A strong understanding of early childhood development
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A warm and dedicated educator who truly cares about the role they play in raising an emotionally and physically healthy child!
  • The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player who brings a blend of creativity, structure and spontaneity to the classroom.
  • At least 6 months of experience working with toddler and/or preschool age children in a group setting, ie. preschool or daycare etc…
