Postion Overview
Time Commitment: 12 hours total per week:
- 6 hours in person (4 hours/week of school + on-site prep)
- 6 hours flexible work from home based on candidate's time
- Hebrew School runs on Shabbat mornings and Wednesday afternoons from September until May; there is no Sunday commitment
Salary Range: $35,000 - $40,000
Location: CSI Nyack 300 N. Broadway Upper Nyack, NY 10960
Start Date: May 2026 with some mentoring/guidance before then

Congregation Sons of Israel Nyack is searching for an enthusiastic Education Director with at least two years of experience in Jewish education who can promote a culture of joyful, inclusive, and aspirational Jewish and Hebrew education to encourage lifelong Jewish learning and positive Jewish identity formation among our school's students and families.
Responsibilities: The Education Director is responsible for all aspects of the approximately 35-student religious school, including
- Curriculum
- Staffing
- Budgeting
- Communication with parents of current and prospective students
- Administrative duties related to the school.
We encourage setting a positive school and staff culture, creating and identifying/procuring educational materials, and working with families to include students’ neurodiversity.
Resources: The Education Director will receive
- Curricular support from the Rabbi
- Budgeting support from the synagogue’s Treasurer
- Administrative support from the synagogue’s office manager
- The Parent Teacher Organization runs family holiday programming and generally supports school activities

CSI Nyack is affiliated with the USCJ and identifies with the Conservative Movement of Judaism. Ideal Candidate Profile
A strong background in Jewish education is a must and a Master in Jewish Education is a plus. Our ideal candidate is innovative, collaborative, organized, and passionate about making religious and Hebrew education both substantive as well as engaging and relevant to children and families raising children in a diverse, multicultural Jewish world.
- Degree in Education, Master’s Degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a Jewish educational setting
