About Tzedek America

Tzedek America curates immersive, justice-driven educational travel experiences for teenagers, young adults and adults. Rooted in Jewish texts and values, our programs inspire participants to connect with issues of justice, identity, and compassion through on-the-ground encounters, reflection, and dialogue.

Position Overview

We are seeking dynamic and compassionate Trip Leaders to facilitate 5–10 social justice journeys per year. Trip Leaders serve as educators, facilitators, and role models, helping participants connect Jewish learning with lived experiences. This role requires exceptional skills with teenagers, a strong sense of customer service, and the ability to guide nuanced and sometimes challenging conversations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate 5-day immersive social justice trips for teens and young adults.

  • Lead reflection sessions, morning meetings, and group debriefs that connect experiences to Jewish texts and values.

  • Manage on-the-ground logistics (transitions, communication with bus drivers, site partners, speakers).

  • Model professionalism, empathy, and hospitality at all times.

  • Hold space for complex conversations about justice, equity, and identity with care and respect.

  • Partner with school or synagogue staff to support group dynamics while maintaining appropriate boundaries.

  • Ensure safety, inclusivity, and accessibility for all participants.

  • Represent Tzedek America’s values of radical empathy, integrity, and kindness.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with teenagers in educational, camp, or community settings.

  • Skilled facilitator comfortable guiding conversations on sensitive social justice topics.

  • Strong knowledge of Jewish texts, values, and traditions, and ability to connect them to real-world issues.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; able to remain calm, flexible, and solutions-oriented.

  • Reliable, organized, and professional; able to juggle logistics while staying present for participants.

  • Willingness to travel and commit to trips that last up to five days at a time.

Compensation

This is a contract position. Compensation is provided per trip, with rates based on experience and trip length. Travel, lodging, and meals during trips are covered by Tzedek America. Bonuses awarded based on feedback and number of trips lead.
