Description

Own a Region. Grow a Movement.

ImpactIsrael is seeking an entrepreneurial Western States Development Director to lead major gift fundraising across the Western United States and help build the next chapter of a rapidly growing organization supporting vulnerable youth and strengthening communities throughout Israel.

ImpactIsrael is the North American philanthropic partner of Yemin Orde Youth Village and Village Way Educational Initiatives, raising more than $11 million annually to support programs that provide vulnerable and immigrant teenagers with education, belonging, stability, and the opportunity to become resilient leaders. The organization’s educational methodology is also being implemented in nearly 100 communities throughout Israel.

This is an opportunity for a relationship-driven major gifts fundraiser who wants to build something—not simply manage an existing portfolio.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Operating and Development Officer, the Western States Development Director will take ownership of major gift fundraising throughout the Western U.S., with an initial focus on Los Angeles and Colorado and opportunities to expand into markets including San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, and beyond.

You will inherit an established base of donors while having significant latitude to develop new relationships, create a prospect pipeline, engage volunteer leaders, and grow the region's philanthropic impact. The current Western portfolio is approximately $1 million, with an ambitious goal to grow it to $1.5 million and beyond.

This is a highly visible role with direct access to senior leadership and an unusually engaged Board. Over time, there is potential to build a team and expand ImpactIsrael's presence across the region.

What You'll Do

  • Own and grow a portfolio of major and prospective donors, with a focus on gifts of $10,000+ and ultimately six-figure commitments.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward high-capacity donors and turn relationships into meaningful philanthropic investments.
  • Build a strong pipeline of new prospects through networking, referrals, Board relationships, research, and personal outreach.
  • Expand ImpactIsrael's visibility and donor network across key Western markets.
  • Partner with the CEO, Chief Operating and Development Officer, Board members, and volunteer leaders on major gift strategy and solicitations.
  • Develop creative cultivation opportunities, donor meetings, and intimate events that open doors to new relationships.
  • Travel extensively throughout the region and represent ImpactIsrael with confidence and credibility in high-level philanthropic settings.

The Ideal Candidate

You are a builder, self-starter, and confident major gift fundraiser who thrives with autonomy. You know how to develop relationships, make the ask, and create momentum without needing day-to-day direction.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • 5+ years of successful fundraising, business development, sales, or relationship management experience; 3+ years may be considered for an exceptional candidate.
  • A demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships and personally secure significant gifts or high-value partnerships.
  • Comfort soliciting $10,000+ gifts and engaging sophisticated, high-net-worth donors.
  • Strong knowledge of the Jewish philanthropic community; experience with a Jewish or Israel-focused organization is highly valued.
  • A genuine passion for Israel and commitment to ImpactIsrael's mission.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, executive presence, and the ability to build trust with donors, volunteers, and community leaders.
  • The independence, persistence, and entrepreneurial mindset to build a territory from the ground up while leveraging an existing foundation.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently throughout the Western U.S.

Why This Opportunity?

This is a chance to join a mission-driven organization with significant momentum and ambitious growth plans, while having real ownership over a region and the opportunity to shape its future.

You'll work with a senior leader who values autonomy over micromanagement, a collaborative national team, and a highly engaged Board that actively supports fundraising. The culture is remote-first, results-oriented, and built around trust, transparency, and accountability.

If you're a fundraiser who wants to build relationships, grow a market, and make a tangible difference for Israel's next generation, this is an opportunity worth exploring.

Compensation: $125,000–$150,000 base, commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental and vision coverage, retirement plan with employer match, flexible time off, paid parental leave, and opportunities to experience the organization's work in Israel.
