Akiva School is looking for a passionate, dynamic and committed leader to join an exciting and innovative space that is committed to the Whole Child. The Principal and Director of Jewish Studies will be an energetic and skillful educator with a strong knowledge of pedagogy and instructional leadership in General and Jewish Studies, teaching experience, and a desire to serve on the leadership team comprised of the Head of School, the Director of Admission and Outreach and the Director of Development and Marketing. This position will serve as the chief educational offi cer leading all teaching and learning teams in the school and will work to partner closely with faculty and parents to ensure the most meaningful and positive educational and social emotional experience for every child at Akiva. This position will work closely with and serve collaboratively with the Head of School.
This position will be responsible for the continued development and implementation of the Strategic Plan and will serve as an inspirational, compassionate and joyful role model in the school.


Located in the hills of Nashville, TN., Akiva School is an elementary school committed to providing children and families opportunities to learn about, analyze, and develop their identity as Jews and Americans in the world. Akiva is dedicated to academic excellence in both General and Judaic Studies.

Elementary School Principal Key Responsibilities:
? Serve as a member of the leadership team in the design, implementation and continued analysis of the Akiva Strategic Plan aligned with the schools mission, vision and values
? Serve, mentor, inspire and collaborate with a fi rst class academic team working to ensure the implementation of a rigorous, creative and wholistic vision for academic, spiritual and social emotional student life
? Serve on the team to hire, supervise and evaluate all members of the educational team and provide timely and productive feedback
? Collaborate in the development and implementation of all staff development
? Oversee all curricular initiatives and continue to monitor that curricula is being implemented with fi delity and support.
? Oversee the selection, acquisition, and implementation of General and Jewish Studies curricula and materials, ensuring alignment with curricular needs and budget considerations
? Serve as part of a team to ensure that classroom instruction is aligned with student needs
? Serve as a member of the Student Support Team, ensuring that all children are supported academically, behaviorally and socially and emotionally and that intentional communication and continued support is provided for parents and faculty
? Collaborate with the content area specialists and teachers (Judaic and General Studies) in designing and identifying foci for professional development in order to advance the Strategic Plan (internal and external)
? Serve as a member of the Academic leadership team to ensure that instruction is research centered, with interventions and enrichment that are data driven and continuously assessed
? Apply the latest research and best practices to enhance educational outcomes.
? Engage in continuous professional development to stay current on researched practices, student needs, and role-specifi c responsibilities.
Jewish Studies Leadership Key Responsibilities
? Serve as a role model for a passionate, committed and curious Jewish life
? Supervise and lead holiday and religious observances, including daily tefi llah and maintaining the school’s inclusive community, respecting all levels of observance.
? Teach 1-2 Judaic Studies classes incorporating multiple perspectives in an open and inclusive space.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
? Undergraduate degree in education or related fi eld required
? MA or advanced degree in education or related fi eld preferred
? Experience in school leadership
