Lappin Foundation’s mission is enhancing Jewish identity across generations, in the Jewish community and beyond. We accomplish our mission by funding dynamic, free Jewish programs for children, teens and adults that build Jewish pride, spark an interest in Jewish living and learning, and imbue young Jewish people with the desire to stay Jewish and raise their own children Jewish. The Foundation’s service area includes Massachusetts communities of the North Shore, Merrimack Valley, and Greater Boston, but our reach is global, thanks to virtual programming.

Position Summary

The new position of Associate Director has been created in response to the growing demand for Lappin Foundation's programs and services.

The Associate Director:

• Provides leadership and supervision for the Foundation’s programming team
• Directs teen educational travel experiences including Y2I and other teen travel programs as determined by Executive Director
• Plays a key role in program development, implementation, and evaluation
• Assists with grant writing and fundraising
• Serves as a trusted partner to the Executive Director on organizational priorities

This position is based at the Foundation’s office at the Cummings Center in Beverly and requires availability for programming outside regular workday business hours. The Associate Director reports directly to the Executive Director.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Associate Director directly supervises the following positions:

• Youth to Israel Adventure (Y2I) Program Administrator
• Program Generalist
• PJ Library North Shore Manager
• PJ Library Merrimack Valley Manager

Supervisory duties include setting and reviewing goals, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring the program team delivers high-quality, mission-aligned programming on time and within budget.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise, support, and evaluate the Youth to Israel Adventure (Y2I) Program Administrator, Program Generalist, PJ Library North Shore Manager, and PJ Library Merrimack Valley Manager, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.
• Direct Youth to Israel Adventure (Y2I) and other teen educational travel experiences, including logistics, safety, staffing, and participant engagement.
• Partner with the program team to create, implement, and evaluate Jewish programs for children, tweens, teens, families, and adults.
• Assist the Executive Director with grant writing, grant reporting, and fundraising initiatives as needed.
• Build and maintain relationships with program partners, community organizations, and stakeholders across the North Shore, Merrimack Valley, and Greater Boston.
• Monitor program budgets and support strong financial management across supervised program areas.
• Represent the Foundation at community events and programming, including outside of regular office hours as needed.
• Step in for the Executive Director on select organizational matters as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

• 5+ years senior leadership experience, preferably in the Jewish non-profit sector
• Proven commitment to Jewish values and community
• 5+ years of experience with teen travel and developing teen programs
• 5+ years of Jewish program development and implementation experience
• Strong financial management skills
• Excellent communication skills and relationship-building abilities
• Demonstrated experience supervising and developing staff

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous CEO/Executive Director or Senior Executive position in a Jewish non-profit
• Knowledge of the Jewish communal landscape
• Advanced degree in a related field
• Experience with educational travel for teens
• Grant writing and program evaluation experience
• Proven fundraising track record (individual, foundation, corporate)

Working Conditions

This position works primarily from the Foundation’s office at the Cummings Center in Beverly, MA, and requires regular availability for programming, meetings, and events outside standard business hours, including some evenings and weekends.
