About Marlboro Jewish Center

Marlboro Jewish Center (MJC) is a large, vibrant Conservative synagogue in Monmouth County, New Jersey, serving approximately 620 member households, along with an additional 100 preschool families. Our Hebrew School includes approximately 215 students in grades K–12, supported by 10–15 madrichim (teen assistants) and 15–20 staff members.

We are seeking a Part-Time Communication and Engagement Associate to support the congregation’s communications, marketing, and community programming efforts, with a particular focus on the Hebrew School and congregational engagement.

The ideal candidate is creative, organized, tech-savvy, and enthusiastic about building community through effective communications and engaging programming. This position reports to the Executive Director and collaborates closely with clergy, Hebrew School staff, and lay-leaders.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys community engagement, communications, event coordination, and working in a collaborative synagogue environment.

Position Details 

  1. Part-time position: approximately 15 hours per week
  2. Flexible schedule with occasional evening or weekend availability for special events and programs

Responsibilities

Communications & Marketing

  1. Create and distribute e-newsletters, program announcements, and congregational communications
  2. Manage and update synagogue social media accounts
  3. Design flyers and develop targeted marketing for events and programs
  4. Update website and communication platforms as needed
  5. Maintain and manage contact lists for communication platforms (such as Constant Contact, ShulCloud)

Community Engagement & Programming Support

  1. Assist with planning and coordination of special programs
  2. Help develop and coordinate adult education programming and marketing materials
  3. Provide general support for synagogue communications and engagement initiatives

Qualifications

  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  2. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  3. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently
  4. Proficiency with Canva, Constant Contact, social media platforms, and general computer applications
  5. Basic graphic design and marketing experience preferred
  6. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  7. Familiarity with synagogue or Jewish communal life preferred
  8. Experience with ShulCloud or similar membership/database platforms is a plus

Salary19,500.00 - 27,000.00 Annual
