Summary:  

Plans and directs the activities of the preschool and their programs under the supervision of the Director of Education.  Provides a nurturing Jewish environment, helping children to grow emotionally, socially, intellectually, physically and spiritually through a child-centered, developmentally appropriate curriculum. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee and implement the design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of educational programs for our full day preschool for families with children 3 months – 5 years. 
  • Create and maintain a cohesive team of teachers, providing professional development opportunities, supervision, and communication which fosters a strong and engaged faculty. 
  • Create a community in which parents feel engaged in the preschool community and Temple Beth El family, providing communication, support, and quality programming for the families. 
  • Recommend annual budget for approval and prudently manage ECC resources within those budget guidelines. 
  • Effectively manage the school according to approved personnel policies and procedures, including, but not limited to the employee handbook and in conformance with current laws and regulations. 
  • Act as a liaison and seek collaborations/partnerships with committees, colleagues, and community agencies in furtherance of the mission of the school. 
  • Oversee and implement activities, programs, and curriculum that allow the school to be current on best practices in early childhood education and Jewish education. 
  • Ensure compliance with State of Michigan licensing requirements. 
  • Actively participate with the temple’s leadership team to support temple-wide programming 
  • Handle other projects and responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • 5 years' experience in the field of early childhood education 
  • A proven record of working effectively with children and families 
  • Experience in planning and implementing both Jewish and secular programming 
  • Excellent administrative skills, including finance, scheduling, and licensing 
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills 
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree preferred. 

 

Hours & Compensation: 

  • Hours: This is a full-time, salaried position. 
  • Compensation: $70,000- $80,000 commensurate with experience.
