We have trained thousands of volunteers across denominations and regions in the United States on situational awareness and operational security.

Position Overview:
The Regional Director, South Florida will lead CSS’s work in the area. This senior-level position will drive the expansion and strengthening of synagogue security teams, cultivate relationships with new institutions, grow a ROAM events team and serve as a leader in the broader Jewish community on volunteer security issues. The Regional Director will work closely with internal departments– including security, training, volunteer operations, and marketing/ communications—ensuring the success of both long-standing and newly engaged partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Growth & Outreach
    • Oversee all CSS programs within the region, including the recruitment of new CSS synagogues for the CSS Synagogue Program (including Entry Point/Usher Greeters), synagogue training, ROAM, and campus initiatives.
    • Expand the number of trained CSS Synagogue teams in the region.

  • Strategic Leadership & Community Engagement
    • Represent CSS as a thought leader on volunteer-led security across the Jewish communal ecosystem.
    • Participate in community roundtables, leadership networks, and security-related convenings.
    • Develop and support regional volunteer leadership.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration
    • Work closely with internal teams on regional communications, marketing campaigns.
    • Coordinate with the national training department to schedule and tailor sessions to regional needs.

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of professional experience in security, Jewish community security, Jewish communal work, or related fields.
  • Strong preference for professional security experience including military or law enforcement.
  • Deep familiarity with South Florida area synagogues, institutions, and leadership networks.
  • Comfort using CRM and project management tools to drive productivity, progress toward goals, and program evaluation.
  • Demonstrated success in project management involving administrative and logistical requirements and challenges. Proven ability to work under stressful circumstances and deliver results with short and recurring deadlines.
  • Proven ability to deliver effective program briefings in small groups and in public gatherings, in addition to a generally high degree of comfort with public speaking and organizational representation.
  • Ability to work independently with success in delivering results in sometimes ambiguous environments with little or no guidance. Self-confidence and sound judgement are critical to success in this role.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • Experience in volunteer management and grassroots mobilization.
