Job Title: Associate Director of Planned Giving 

Organization: American Friends of Meir Panim  

Location: Remote / Flexible  

Reports To: Director of Development and Marketing

Part-time (10-20 hours per week), with potential to become Full-time

American Friends of Meir Panim supports one of Israel’s leading humanitarian organizations, providing food assistance and vital social services to vulnerable individuals and families across Israel. Through Restaurant-Style soup kitchens, Meals on Wheels, youth programs, and emergency relief, Meir Panim delivers food, dignity, and hope.  

Position Summary

American Friends of Meir Panim is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven Associate Director of Planned Giving to lead and grow our legacy giving program. This part-time role will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors interested in legacy giving opportunities, including bequests, charitable gift annuities, beneficiary designations, and other estate-planning vehicles. The Associate Director will work closely with the development team to integrate planned giving into the organization’s broader fundraising strategy and deepen long-term donor engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Planned Giving Strategy & Program Management

- Develop and implement a strategic plan to grow American Friends of Meir Panim’s planned giving program.

- Create and manage a pipeline of planned giving prospects, including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

- Design donor outreach strategies to educate supporters about legacy giving opportunities.

- Maintain accurate records of planned giving prospects and commitments in the donor database.

- Track progress toward planned giving goals and prepare regular reports for leadership.

Donor Cultivation & Stewardship

- Build meaningful relationships with donors and prospects through phone calls, virtual meetings, written correspondence, and in-person visits when appropriate.

- Present planned giving opportunities tailored to donors’ philanthropic goals.

- Steward legacy donors through personalized engagement and recognition opportunities.

- Collaborate with frontline fundraisers to identify major donors who may be strong planned giving prospects.

Marketing & Communications

- Partner with the development and marketing team to create planned giving materials, including brochures, website content, newsletters, and donor stories.

- Help establish and promote a legacy giving society to recognize planned giving donors.

- Ensure messaging reflects the values and mission of American Friends of Meir Panim while effectively conveying the impact of legacy gifts.

Cross-Department Collaboration

- Work closely with the Director of Development and Marketing and senior leadership to align planned giving efforts with fundraising priorities.

- Coordinate with legal and financial professionals, when appropriate, to facilitate donor gift arrangements.

- Train development staff on planned giving basics and help incorporate legacy giving conversations into donor strategy.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required.

- Minimum of 5+ years of fundraising experience, with direct experience in planned giving, major gifts, or related development roles.

- Knowledge of charitable gift planning vehicles, estate planning concepts, and donor stewardship best practices.

- Demonstrated success in cultivating and soliciting donors.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

- Experience with donor databases/CRMs.

- Passion for the mission of American Friends of Meir Panim and commitment to serving vulnerable populations in Israel.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in Jewish nonprofit fundraising.

- Familiarity with legacy society development and planned giving marketing strategies.

- CFP, CAP, or related planned giving certification is a plus.

Compensation

$30,000-$65,000 per year, depending on experience
