Senior Director of Education

Position Overview

Temple Judea seeks a Senior Director of Education to serve as the congregation’s chief educational leader and integrator. This role provides strategic oversight and leadership across a diverse educational ecosystem spanning early childhood through adulthood and serves as a core member of Temple Judea’s senior leadership team. The Senior Director of Education partners closely with the Senior Rabbi, Executive Director, lay leadership, and a strong team of program directors to ensure that educational vision, congregational strategy, and community experience are aligned, coherent, and sustainable. This position is well suited for a seasoned leader who excels at systems leadership, supervising senior professionals, and guiding organizations through complexity and change.

Scope of Responsibility

Strategic & Congregational Leadership

• Serve as a senior leadership partner in advancing Temple Judea’s mission as a House of Learning, Gathering, and Worship.
• Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of a congregation-wide educational strategy.
• Act as a thought partner to the Senior Rabbi on educational vision and organizational priorities.
• Ensure continuous improvement through strategic review and adaptive leadership.

Educational Systems & Program Integration

• Provide strategic oversight for Temple Judea’s educational continuum, including:
• The Margaux School: Reggio-inspired early childhood program
• Congregational religious school: PK–12
• B’nai Mitzvah learning
• Club Judea: Experiential afterschool programs
• Teen engagement and adult education
• Strengthen transitions between educational stages.
• Establish shared goals, outcomes, and frameworks across departments.

Leadership of People & Culture

• Supervise and support senior education leaders and program directors.
• Build a culture of professional growth, accountability, and collaboration.
• Oversee systems for supervision, evaluation, and professional learning.
• Advocate for educator excellence and professional respect.

Educational Design & Learning Excellence

• Guide long-term curriculum planning and educational design.
• Partner with clergy on family education, Shabbat, holidays, and lifecycle learning.
• Design and facilitate professional learning for educational staff.
• Ensure every learner is known, supported, and connected to caring adults.

Organizational & Financial Stewardship

• Provide oversight of educational budgets, enrollment strategy, and tuition structures.
• Collaborate with the Endowment Board and lay leadership on funding priorities.
• Ensure compliance with DCF and NAEYC requirements.
• Oversee educational communications and marketing.

External Leadership & Professional Engagement

• Represent Temple Judea in ARJE, ECE-RJ, and CAJE-Miami.
• Encourage professional engagement and leadership development among directors.
• Strengthen connections to URJ camps and immersive teen experiences.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 5+ years of senior educational leadership experience.
• Minimum 5+ years supervising multiple professional staff.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex systems.
• Advanced degree in Jewish Educational Leadership, Education, or Non-Profit Management or related field preferred.
