The Lower School Hebrew Teacher will develop the student's active linguistic ability, based on knowledge and proficiency in the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The active linguistic ability is built gradually from the simple to the more complex and from passive knowledge to creative activity. Although all levels use the same linguistic elements- genres, layers, and registers- the levels of achievement are measured on several continuums: length of texts, the richness of vocabulary, fequency/infequency of words, the syntactic complexity of the sentences, and rhetorical complexity of the texts. Foster a sense of belonging to the Jewish people, and cultivate strong ties with Medinat Yisrael (the State of Israel) and Am Yisrael (the Jewish people).
The candidate lower school Hebrew educator must have a CAJE license, and bachelor’s degree or higher, and the ability to teach all grades and levels of Lower School Hebrew. The candidate must have two years teaching Hebrew. They must be proficient in the use of instructional technology and online textbooks, speak fluent Hebrew, build teaching units on a variety of topics in sequence order, differentiate the instruction. Must be certified by the Center for Advancement of Jewish Education (CAJE). Salary based on experience.
