Counselor - School & College Part Time

The Schechter School of LI is looking for an experienced school/college counselor for the 2026-2027 school year, covering grades 9-12. This is a Part-Time position for 3 days per week. The candidate must be well-versed in the college application process: writing letters of recommendation, college application preparation, essay writing, testing, and student advocacy. Additional responsibilities will include social-emotional support of students, scheduling, and personal counseling, financial aid options, scholarships, and application timelines. Additional duties include collaborating with faculty and administrators, maintaining documentation, communicating with colleges and universities, and contributing to school programs that align with SSLI’s mission and values.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong skills in College Counseling and working with High School Students.
• Candidates should possess expertise in College Applications, including essayguidance, application strategy, and timeline management.
• Candidates should possess experience in Student Counseling, addressing academic, social-emotional, and developmental needs.
• Candidates should possess knowledge of Student Financial Aid, including FAFSA, scholarships, and institutional aid.
• Master’s degree in school counseling
• Relevant certification or licensure as a school counselor
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, faculty, and college representatives.
• Understanding of or openness to Jewish day school settings and values, and commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive school community.
