Cantor / Cantorial Soloist / Cantorial Student – High Holy Days 5787 / 2026 Beth Jacob Synagogue – Norwich, Connecticut
Beth Jacob Synagogue, a small but vibrant Conservative congregation in Eastern Connecticut about midway between New York and Boston, is seeking a Cantor, Cantorial Soloist, or Cantorial Student to participate in our High Holy Day services for 5787 / 2026.
High Holy Day Responsibilities: Erev Rosh Hashanah (Sept 11); Rosh Hashanah Days 1–2 (Sept 12–13); Kol Nidre (Sept 20); Yom Kippur Mussaf and Neilah (Sept 21). We use Mahzor Hadash and value traditional nusach enriched by participatory, uplifting melodies.
Optional Future Engagement: For the right candidate, we are open to discussing additional periodic involvement in the Synagogue’s musical activities. Any such arrangements would be separate from the High Holy Day role.
About Us: Beth Jacob is a caring, financially secure, inclusive community of about 85–90 member units, committed to study, worship, and tikkun olam. We invest deeply in the High Holy Days and value the presence of a spiritual and musical leader who can help us grow our experience.
Compensation: $7,000–$10,000 for High Holy Day participation, with potential for a higher amount for the appropriate candidate. Travel, lodging, and per diem provided. Additional compensation for any post-holiday opportunities would be arranged separately.
