Jewish Agency ShinShinim PART TIME Hub assistant Coordinator – East San Francisco Bay Area

Local Shinshinim assistant coordinator: Will work directly with the Shinshinim Hub Director on a day-to-day basis, managing the specific implementation of the program in each local institution in their assigned area; providing professional and emotional support. Most critically, the assistant coordinator will have local responsibility over the implementation of the program vetting and communicating with host families, working with institutions, etc

Position is 20 hours per week.

 

The responsibilities of the coordinator include:

  • This position reports to the SF Bay Area Shinshinim Supervisor and to the West Coast Regional Director
  • Introducing the program to local organizations on the East Bay Area
  • Will be responsible for her schedule of meeting all of the following requirements
  • Vette, prepare and coordinate with host families for the Shinshinim (Israeli young Emissaries)
  • Facilitate the job description and check in ongoing jobs with the site supervisors in the organizations.
  • Arrange a comprehensive orientation for the Shinshinim, including meetings with site supervisors, as well as an orientation to the community and the local hot spots.
  • Hold weekly supervision meetings to assess work, goals, personal well-being and progress.
  • Provide guidance in understanding local work culture, time management, and administrative skills. Shinshinim have not had a similar job and may need extra guidance in this area.
  • Determine the needs and requests of the local organizations and mediate with the shinshinim.
  • Support and guide the Shinshinim with logistics, and all areas of the shlichut. Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with each shinshin.
  • Find and help organize community events for the shinshinim to take part in during the year.

 

What the coordinator needs to be:

  • A Zionistic, Israel loving, driven person.
  • Writing and speaking in both Hebrew and English – fluent
  • Able to work flexible hours, availability to address the shinshinim’s needs outside of working hours, sometimes also during the night and on the weekend.
  • Full control with office and social media - advantage
  • Experience in providing informal education – an advantage.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with the SF Bay Area community – an advantage
