Part-time Administrator
Collaborative Jewish Sunday School
A Joint Project of Beth Chai, Kehila Chadasha and Machar
The Collaborative Jewish Sunday School is the joint project of three Jewish Communities, one independent and two humanistic. We share a commitment to progressive, community-oriented, egalitarian Judaism and to social action, heritage, and Jewish celebration.
Together, we have approximately 55 students in grades K through 7 and meet for 24 3-hour sessions between September and May. Joining our programs together allows us to provide more learning opportunities and an enriched community of peers for our students. Our three rabbis serve as the education directors.
Responsibilities will include registration, attendance, supplies, teacher and teen aide records, and liaising with the building maintenance staff. Most importantly, the administrator will be one of the faces of the school, interacting with students, parents, teachers, and the education directors. Troubleshooting is also an important part of the position.
Hours: Approximately 7 hours/week during the 24 weeks of the school year when there is Sunday School, and several hours during August (for school year preparations). On the 24 Sundays during the school year, the Administrator would need to be on site at Garrett Park Elementary School from 9 am to 12:30 pm. The remaining hours would be more flexible.
Qualifications: We are seeking a warm, organized, energetic, and diplomatic administrator for the school. We hope to find somebody with a background in administration, organization, and/or education. While Judaica knowledge is helpful, it is not essential for the position. It is essential that the administrator has excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to multi-task, an ability to adapt to different situations, and a flexible personality.
Renumeration: $25/hour
