Sefaria, a non-profit organization dedicated to building the future of Torah in an open and participatory way, seeks a remote, part-time Social Media Coordinator to manage all aspects of Sefaria’s social media efforts.

 

Position Overview

The Social Media Coordinator is a remote, part-time, contract position to address Sefaria’s growing marketing and communications activities as outlined in our new multi-year growth strategy.

The Coordinator will be responsible for managing our content calendar, developing social media posts, interacting with our followers, developing a bank of evergreen content for future use, and more. The candidate will need to be an independent worker and comfortable working with multiple systems and social media platforms.

On a monthly basis, the Coordinator will be responsible for creating, scheduling, and posting 20+ social media posts on each of our main platforms. The Coordinator will work closely with the Senior Communications Manager and members of the Learning Department on the creation of social media content, as well as with members of other departments to respond to promotion requests.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, open to feedback, and able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a remote environment. This is a fast-paced position responsible for keeping multiple projects running smoothly and responding to last-minute requests. This position requires a significant understanding of Jewish texts and culture.

The Social Media Coordinator will report directly to the Senior Communications Manager.

 

In this position you will:

  • Execute a results-driven social media strategy by developing and curating engaging content for social media platforms
  • Work with the Senior Communications Manager to create a social media calendar and develop an optimal posting schedule, considering web traffic and customer engagement metrics
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest social media best practices, technologies, and platform algorithms
  • Assist in the creation of social media graphics
  • Maintain a unified brand voice across different social media channels
  • Interact with users and respond to social media messages, inquiries, and comments
  • Report on comments and feedback from users
  • Collaborate with Learning, Development, and Product teams
  • Provide general administrative support to the Marketing & Communications Department and complete other tasks as needed

 

Experience, qualifications, and requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in digital communications or a related field such as advertising or journalism — or equivalent professional experience
  • A combination of relevant work experience and education to successfully perform the core responsibilities of the position
  • Strong knowledge of Jewish texts and Jewish culture
  • Mastery of the major social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other social media best practices
  • Knowledge of social media analytics software including Facebook Insights, Google Analytics, and Twitter Analytics to track audience engagement and campaign performance
  • Proficiency with, or the ability to learn Canva and Sprout
  • Good understanding of social media KPIs
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to track multiple projects and meet tight and ongoing deadlines
  • Impeccable oral and written communication skills
  • Between 10 and 15 hours per week to dedicate to the role
  • Proficiency in working with the technology in an online work environment including GSuite, Slack, Zoom, Trello (training will be provided, as needed)

Compensation:

  • This is a contract position
  • The hourly rate range for this part-time role is $25-$35 per hour (10-15 hours per week)

 

Location:

The Social Media Coordinator can be based anywhere in the US with a preference for Eastern or Central time zones. Sefaria has staff in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Providence, Chicago, and St. Louis.
