Overview
The Member Engagement Director builds and sustains meaningful relationships within the
HTAA community. This role oversees communications, engagement initiatives, event
coordination, and support for the rabbi and synagogue programs that enhance congregational life.
Primary Responsibilities
Member Relations & Communications
• Manage the membership database (new members, resignations, address updates, death
information).
• Maintain the synagogue website, calendars, marketing and social media presence
• Oversee communication to members: newsletters, flyers, notices, and announcements.
• Coordinate Rabbi’s weekly email and assist with proofing and distribution of Hi-Lites.
• Draft thank-you, condolence, and general letters.
Program & Event Support
• Advertise synagogue events internally and externally
• Coordinate simcha and rental contracts with Building & Operations.
• Organize Kiddush, Seudah Shelishit, Minyan shopping, and related logistics.
• Plan and schedule programs, classes, and Youth Services.
• Support High Holy Day activities: ticket printing/distribution, usher coordination, youth/
babysitting programs, and apples & honey distribution.
Lifecycle & Pastoral Support
• Assist with funeral arrangements, lifecycle forms, and Yahrzeit mailings.
• Support rabbi with funeral and lifecycle communication.
• Prepare materials for lifecycle events, and other celebrations (certificates, gifts).
Donor & Community Acknowledgment
• Coordinate donor acknowledgments and member notices.
• Manage donor thank-you communications and outreach to new and potential members.
• Assist Board with fundraising and development.
Qualifications
Required:
• Proficiency with computers, website management, email marketing platforms, and strong
social media communication skills.
• Solid familiarity with Jewish traditions, customs, and synagogue life.
Preferred:
• Experience with fundraising and development.
