BSBI At a Glance
Brith Sholom Beth Israel Synagogue (BSBI) is proud to be the oldest Ashkenazi Orthodox Synagogue in continuous existence in the United States. The shul has staunchly upheld Orthodox Judaism since its beginnings 170 years ago, and simultaneously warmly welcomes all Jews of varying personal levels of religious observance and backgrounds.
The shul has daily minyanim every morning and evening. In addition to the main Synagogue in historic downtown Charleston, Shabbos and Yom Tov services are also held at the Minyan House in the beautiful South Windermere neighborhood.
Synagogue events include a variety of Torah classes, breakfasts, special Shabbos and Yom Tov events and other social programming. BSBI is known far and wide for its warmth and welcoming atmosphere to both locals and frequent out-of-town visitors.
