About Our Program

Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel’s Early Childhood Center is a warm, inclusive community serving children ages 18 months through 5 years. We provide a creative, play-based environment where children discover Jewish values and develop independent thinking in a joyful setting. Our educators gently guide each child through the transition from home to school, ensuring a supportive and individualized learning experience.

Teachers and families partner together to spark creativity, curiosity, and exploration with a rich variety of materials and experiences. We foster independence, positive self-image, and a strong sense of community, encouraging friendship, kindness, and respect for each other. Through songs, stories, and celebrations, we nurture a joyful Jewish environment where children’s unique talents are honored and a lifelong love of learning is inspired.

Position Overview

We are seeking a caring and experienced Lead Toddler Teacher to join our dynamic early childhood team. In this role, you will create a safe and nurturing classroom for toddlers aged 18–24 months and plan engaging play-based activities that align with our educational philosophy.

You will work with an experienced co-teacher and report to the Early Childhood Director. You will be responsible for implementing an emergent curriculum that integrates age-appropriate lessons with Jewish values, traditions, and Hebrew language experiences in fun and meaningful ways. The ideal candidate is patient, creative, and enthusiastic about fostering each child’s social, emotional, and cognitive growth in a joyful, supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a fun, safe, and stimulating learning environment that encourages exploration and discovery through creativity and play.
  • Plan and implement a play-based curriculum that supports development across all domains: language, literacy, math, science, art, and social-emotional skills.
  • Encourage independence and build positive self-esteem by offering age-appropriate choices and responsibilities.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom community where every child feels valued, respected, and able to form friendships.
  • Incorporate Jewish traditions, values, and celebrations into daily routines through songs, stories, and cultural activities.
  • Communicate regularly with families, sharing updates on their child’s experiences and collaborating on each child’s growth.
  • Maintain a well-organized, safe classroom space and adhere to all health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field required
  • At least two years of experience as a lead teacher with toddlers or preschool-aged children.
  • Strong understanding of toddler development and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Warm, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with young children.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills; able to build positive relationships with families and colleagues.
  • Genuine interest in Jewish culture and traditions (training and support provided for those new to Jewish curricula).
