Pre-K 4 Lead Teacher

Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Pre-K 4 Lead Teacher to join our preschool team. The ideal candidate is nurturing, creative, and dedicated to fostering a positive, engaging learning environment that supports the developmental needs of four-year-old children, with a strong focus on early literacy and foundational math skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with early childhood standards
  • Design and deliver engaging early literacy activities, including letter recognition, phonics, storytelling, and pre-writing skills
  • Introduce foundational math concepts such as counting, number recognition, patterns, sorting, and basic problem-solving through hands-on activities
  • Create a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
  • Lead daily classroom activities, including circle time, small group instruction, and play-based learning
  • Monitor and assess student progress in literacy, math, and overall development; maintain accurate records and portfolios
  • Foster social, emotional, and academic growth in all students
  • Supervise and support an assistant teacher (if applicable)
  • Maintain open and professional communication with parents and caregivers, including updates on academic progress
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing and DCF regulations
  • Manage classroom behavior using positive guidance techniques
  • Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities
  • Keep classroom organized, clean, and well-prepared with materials and supplies

Qualifications:

  • CDA, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred)
  • Previous experience teaching Pre-K or preschool-aged children
  • Strong understanding of early literacy development and foundational math instruction
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • DCF 45 hours completed (or in progress, if required by state)

  • Passion for teaching early reading and math through play and structured activities
