Seeking Dynamic Hebrew Teacher for Long-Term Substitute Position
Part-Time: 25 hours per week

We are a pluralistic community day school (K-8) located in the San Francisco East Bay Area.
We are seeking a dynamic, innovative, versatile Hebrew teacher to join our team as a long-term substitute for a teacher on parental leave. The substitute’s primary responsibility is to teach three sections of Hebrew: 4th grade Hebrew, 5th/6th Hebrew Level 1 and 7th/8th Hebrew Level 1. (Level 1 learners are newer to the language.) Additional duties may include providing teaching support in other classes, student recess supervision, team meetings etc. Teachers also receive generous prep time within the schedule.
The substitute teacher is responsible for teaching speaking, listening comprehension, reading, writing and grammar skills in context and differentiating for students with different learning styles and language experience. The learning focus of our program is primarily on meaningful communication at various levels of Hebrew proficiency.
The ideal candidate will:
- be knowledgeable of the thematic language acquisition approach and/or be willing to learn how to implement this approach creating a hands-on, active learning environment.
- be a native Hebrew speaker or fully fluent and able to create a semi-immersion experience in the classroom
- have teacher training or teaching experience and strong written and oral communication skills in both Hebrew and English
- be able to differentiate curriculum and learning objectives for a range of learners
- be an upbeat, growth-minded, flexible team player who loves to have fun while teaching, and who will enthusiastically contribute to the greater good of the school.

Schedule and Compensation Information:
This is a 62.5% position. The current schedule is: Monday 10am-3pm, Tuesday 9am-3pm, Wednesday 10:45-3pm, Thursday 11am-3:30pm, Friday 9am-3pm. This includes teaching and supervision duties, breaks, and prep time. Days off will include April 2-10 (Spring Break), May 22 (Shavuot), and May 25 (Memorial Day).
The salary for this 62.5% position from March 2-June 9, 2025 will be $10,365-$14,925 commensurate with experience.
