Description

UJA-Federation of New York is the largest local philanthropy in the world. For more than 100 years, we’ve brought New Yorkers together to solve some of the most pressing problems facing our community. Thanks to our network of hundreds of non-profits, we can leverage our expertise across any number of areas — including health and human services, arts and culture, and education — to care for Jews everywhere and New Yorkers of all backgrounds, respond to crises close to home and far away, and shape our Jewish future. Our reach extends from New York to Israel to nearly 70 other countries around the world, touching 4.5 million people each year.

The Development Executive of UJA Women is responsible for the engagement, cultivation, and solicitation of professional women donors and prospects through face-to-face meetings, the organization of fundraising events and volunteer opportunities. They will work with other divisions as the lead staff of Professional Women and create engagement opportunities for women in this cohort.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Act as lead staff for the Professional Women portfolio including board governance, planning and execution of signature events (such as mentor program, panel events, Dine Around) and other events relevant to all professional women, Professional Women Lions and the 30s/40s cohort.
  • Coordinate with other UJA departments (e.g. Marketing & Communications, Events, Speakers’ Bureau and other FRD Teams) and with lay leaders.
  • Educate donors and prospective donors about the mission of UJA-Federation of New York in ways that inspire them to give. Plan one-on-one meetings, fundraising events, educational programs, service projects, agency visits, and travel opportunities.
  • Develop and implement appropriate fundraising strategies to increase the dollars raised for the annual campaign. This includes thinking strategically about how to move donors into and beyond the 30s/40s cohort ($1,800 minimum giving) and the Professional Women Lions cohort ($6,000 minimum giving).
  • Maintain records of donor engagement and evaluate progress regularly with supervisor.
  • Develop and update research on individuals in portfolio; identify viable prospects through outreach and relationship-building activities.
  • Involve lay leadership in a strategic manner. Provide necessary professional support to appropriate lay committees. This includes agenda setting, preparing reports and presentations, writing meeting notes, and providing appropriate follow-up.
  • Collaborate with staff in other divisions to develop and implement strategies involving donors across divisional lines. This includes collaboration with fundraisers for the annual campaign, Planned Giving & Endowments Campaign, Capital and Special Initiatives Campaigns in order to maximize engagement of the donor and her family.
  • Stay aware of philanthropic trends by reading newspapers, and other related materials to remain generally informed.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Three years or more of post-college work experience in fundraising, sales or related experience.
