Part-Time Development Associate

Location: Stowe, VT (In person or remote)

Organization: Jewish Community of Greater Stowe (JCOGS)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a part-time Development Associate to join a close knit, collaborative team of synagogue professionals and lay leaders and help grow and support our member communications, community engagement and fundraising efforts throughout the year, focused on planned giving.  The ideal candidate has excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills, strong communication skills, some fundraising experience, an appreciation for Jewish community and JCOGS in particular and is comfortable working independently in a small team environment. This position is part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) with some flexibility in scheduling.  Reports to the Development Committee Chair and President.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fundraising & Donor Relations:
    • Manage administration of fundraising campaigns to grow endowment and support annual fund giving, including direct mail campaigns 
    • Steward donor relationships to increase engagement and support
    • Maintain donor records and track contributions using ShulCloud CRM database (for which training will be provided if necessary)
    • Support JCOGS leadership and volunteers in planning and execution of donor appeals 
  • Marketing & Communications:
    • Access legacy giving materials from Harold Grinspoon Foundation (HGF) Life and Legacy Program; create compelling fundraising materials, newsletters, and donor updates in alignment with goals of the JCOGS board and Development Committee
    • Participate in zoom meetings, webinars and attend the annual conference for HGF Life and Legacy Program
    • Manage email communications, and social media presence to enhance community outreach.  Work with other JCOGS staff to update JCOGS website donor pages
    • Create schedules for communication, preparation and distribution of campaign materials
    • Create donor pages for JCOGS annual report for June annual membership meeting
    • Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all development and marketing efforts
  • Event Planning & Coordination:
    • Plan and execute fundraising events, donor appreciation gatherings, and community engagement activities.
    • Work with volunteers, vendors, and JCOGS staff to ensure successful event execution.
  • Database & Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of donor contributions, pledges, and fundraising performance.
    • Generate reports to track progress toward fundraising goals.
  • Grant Writing & Sponsorships:
    • Identify and apply for relevant grant opportunities. 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated relevant experience in marketing, administration, fundraising, development, or a related field
  • Strong writing and communication skills for donor outreach and marketing materials
  • Experience with ShulCloud, CRM system, or equivalent
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office tools, Google Docs, Canva 
  • Event planning experience, including logistics and guest engagement
  • Proficiency in social media and digital marketing strategies
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team environment
  • Familiarity with the Stowe Jewish community is a plus
  • Grant writing experience is a plus

Compensation & Schedule:

This is a part-time salaried position with flexible hours (approximately 20 per week). PT Compensation is $32,000-$35 commensurate with experience. Some evening or weekend availability may be required for meetings and one or two events a year. 

Benefits include 20 hours of paid vacation and a free synagogue family membership annually.
