Position Overview
Congregation B’nai Israel (CBI) is an inclusive, welcoming Conservative synagogue in Tustin, California, known for its exemplary educational, religious, cultural, and social programming. We are seeking an organized, creative, and detail-oriented Event & Program Coordinator to support our staff and lay leadership in the planning, execution, and promotion of synagogue programs and events.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in community environments, enjoys bringing people together, and can manage logistics with professionalism and warmth.


Key Responsibilities:
Event & Program Planning
-Coordinate logistics for synagogue programs, holiday celebrations, auxiliary group gatherings, and private events

-Work with clergy, staff, and lay leaders to plan event timelines and program details

-Manage event calendars throughout the year; ensure spaces are available; and facilitate alignment across portfolios during yearly calendar planning

-Communicate event setup/breakdown and food needs with Facility and Kitchen Manage

-Work with staff to ensure planned programs are of high quality

Administrative Support
-Track event registrations and attendance

-Manage program budgets in coordination with synagogue leadership

-Process invoices and maintain accurate financial records related to events

-Maintain event planning documents and internal communications

Communications & Marketing
-Draft and send promotional materials including emails, flyers, and social media posts

-Update website event listings

-Coordinate publicity with internal and external partners

-Ensure consistent branding and messaging


Community Engagement
-Serve as a welcoming presence at programs and events

-Help recruit and coordinate volunteers

-Support relationship-building within the congregation


Qualifications
-2+ years of experience in event planning, program coordination, or related field

-Strong organizational and time-management skills

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills

-Willingness to learn Shulcloud, our primary management software

-Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

-Warm, professional demeanor and commitment to Jewish community life


Preferred Qualifications
-Familiarity with Jewish holidays, customs, and synagogue life

-Experience working in a nonprofit organization

-Basic graphic design and website experience


Schedule & Compensation
-Part-time: starting at 20 hours/week

-Available weekday evenings and Sundays, flexible schedule around Jewish holidays and major events

-Compensation: $30-35/hour; commensurate with experience
