Description

Hebrew College, founded in 1921 in the Newton, MA, is dedicated to rigorous, pluralistic Jewish education that supports a vibrant and inclusive Jewish community. The College prepares Jewish professionals and lifelong learners with strong foundations in classical Jewish studies and the tools to navigate contemporary Jewish life. Through graduate programs, adult-learning opportunities, and youth-education initiatives, Hebrew College connects serious academic study with real-world community needs. The institution embraces diverse forms of Jewish expression and practice, encouraging open dialogue and respect for multiple perspectives. Hebrew College also welcomes individuals from other faiths who wish to engage with Jewish learning, culture, and conversation.

We're looking for a creative, digitally native, early-career professional who is enthusiastic about Jewish life and excited to help tell Hebrew College's story. You know how to make short-form video that stops the scroll, and you're always thinking about how to translate real moments into compelling content. You're curious, ask good questions, and love finding creative ways to bring an institution's life to our audiences.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Brand and Marketing Strategy, you'll own our day-to-day social media presence, create graphics and visual content, and support the broader communications team across print and digital projects.  This is a full-time, year-round hybrid position that requires at least one day on campus per week and participation in approximately 8 to 12 afterhours community events througout the year.

Responsibilities include:

Social Media

  • Manage Hebrew College's presence across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube
  • Build and execute a content calendar aligned with the academic year, Jewish calendar, and organizational priorities
  • Produce and edit short-form video content (Reels, Stories, TikTok-style) — capturing campus life, student and faculty spotlights, Jewish holiday moments, and community storytelling
  • Compose concise promotional copy for event descriptions, program blurbs and newsletter highlights
  • Monitor engagement and respond to comments and messages across platforms
  • Track performance metrics and share regular insights and recommendations
  • Stay ahead of platform trends and emerging channels

Graphic Design & Visual Content

  • Design graphics for social media, email, event flyers, signage, brochures, and web
  • Maintain visual consistency with Hebrew College's brand identity across all assets
  • Photograph and video events on campus; coordinate with external photographers as needed
  • Maintain an organized library of photos, videos, and design templates
  • Support major publications, including the annual report, program guides, and donor materials

Email & Web

  • Design and deploy email newsletters and announcements using Emma
  • Upload and format content in WordPress, keeping pages current and visually consistent
  • Support basic website updates, including imagery, event listings, and program pages

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in social media, graphic design, or communications
  • Fluency with social platforms and a sharp instinct for what makes content engaging
  • Native comfort producing and editing short-form video (Reels, or similar)
  • Proficiency with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Curiosity, creativity, and genuine enthusiasm for Jewish life, learning, and community
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Familiarity with email management systems and WordPress a plus; willingness to learn is required
  • Hebrew literacy a plus but not required
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered

The base annual salary for this position is $50,000 - $55,000.
