Position: Major Gifts Officer 

Location: Remote – Eastern time zone preferred 

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer  
 

Position Summary:           

The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for the engagement, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of foundations and high net worth individuals through face-to-face solicitations and the organization of fundraising events. The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for the development and implementation of fundraising strategies throughout the USA.  Target campaign $20 – 25 million annually. 
 

 Major Responsibilities: 

• Identify, cultivate and solicit foundations throughout the USA. 

• Identify, cultivate and solicit high net worth individuals for significant gifts. 

• Educate donors and prospects about the mission of The Nagen Project through one-on-one cultivation activities, fundraising events, educational programs, and site visits. 

• Oversee the effective execution of multiple events, dinners, and parlor meetings with the ultimate goal of achieving fundraising goals.  

• Work closely with major donors and lay leadership in building and developing their affinity to The Nagen Project  

• Work closely with board of directors to achieve fundraising goals. 

• Manage and utilize appropriate donor research and internal resources to capitalize fundraising opportunities.  

• Represent the organization by serving as a speaker at fundraising, community, and educational events. 

Competencies/Experience: 

• Ten plus years of related experience 

• Proven professional in development who has successfully led multiple fundraising programs of significant size.  

• Successful experience in and comfort with cultivating donors. Must be able to articulate the case for giving in an effective and persuasive manner. 

• Track record of soliciting and closing major gifts from foundations. 

• Ability to tell the Nagen Project story with passion. 

• Ability to close significant individual gifts. 

• Strategic and creative in nature, the successful candidate must possess strong emotional intelligence.  

• Possess a strong personal presence and outstanding relationship-building skills.  

• Effective and supportive communicator, able to inspire and influence and build credibility and rapport. 

• Able to impart knowledge, develop skills, and mentor. 

• Possess the maturity, diplomatic, motivational, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with senior-level donors, lay leadership, and staff.  

• Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills, and customer service orientation. 

• Ability to inspire and influence others. 

• Able to work collaboratively and to manage multiple tasks. 

• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as active listening skills. 

• Strong attention to detail, ability to solve problems, and work independently.
