Membership Experience Associate

 

The Membership Experience Associate is a highly visible, relationship-focused role within the Temple community and serves as a key point of contact for current and prospective members. Reporting to the Director of Membership Engagement, this position helps ensure that every interaction with the Membership office is warm, responsive, and supportive.

The Associate works closely with clergy, staff, volunteers, and congregants to guide individuals and families through the process of learning about and joining the Temple, respond to member inquiries and needs, and help create meaningful opportunities for connection and engagement. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building relationships, providing thoughful service, and helping people feel welcomed and supported within a vibrant Jewish community.

Primary Responsabilities

Customer Service & Member Support

  • Serve as a welcoming and responsive point of contact for members and prospective members, providing timely and thoughful assistance with questions, requests, and concerns.
  • Respond to a high volume of member inquiries by email, phone, and in person, ensuring that each interation reflects the Temple's values of excellence, warmth, hospitality, and professionalism.
  • Assist members with a variety of needs including program inquiries, event participation, dues assistance, High Holy Days tickets, and general Temple engagement.
  • Troubleshoot issues and coordinate with other departments when needed to ensure members receive accurate information and timely support.
  • Maintain clear communication and follow-through so that members feel supported and valued throughout their experience with the Temple.

 Membership Experience & Relationship Tracking

  • Assist Associate Director of Membership in role of "membership concierge" for new, incoming families to the ECC, Brawerman, and Center for Youth Engagement providing a seamless enrollment and onboarding experience for those wo are joining the Temple as part of the school enrollment process.
  • Coordinate with clergy to oversee and record important member touchpoints including new member calls, baby gifts, referral gifts, life-cycle calls, and milestone acknowledgments.

Membership Operations and Events

  • Support outreach, follow-up, dues fulfilment, and relationship-building with current members during renewal cycles.
  • Assist the membership team with the planning and execution of High Holy Days, including member renewals, ticketing, seating, and congregant communications.
  • Provide on-site support during services and related High Holy Day programming.
  • Staff membership events and large synagogue functions as needed.
  • Represent the Membership department at staff meetings, programs and gatherings across Temple campuses.

Qualifications

  • Patient, warm, and welcoming with strong listening skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a wide range of community members
  • Respectful and collaborative in working with clergy, congregants, volunteers, and colleagues
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • High attention to detail and strong follow-through
  • Ability to troubleshoot challenges and work both independently and collaboratively
  • Self-motivated with an interest in creating meaningful engagement opportunities
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to navigate confidential or sensitive matters with professionalism, direction, and maturity
  • Comfort working with databases (experience with Raiser's Edge, Salesforce-style platforms, or similar CRM systems preferred)
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and Google Workspace
  • Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, Shabbat, and Jewish holidays
  • Familiarity with Jewish life and synagogue culture preferred
