Congregation Beth Emeth is a Reform Congregation in Wilmington, Delaware. We aspire to be a welcoming congregational family that supports and celebrates each other through the following:

Congregation Beth Emeth is seeking a songleader to help achieve these goals in the following ways:  

Key Responsibilities and Expectations:  

• Songlead once a month during the school year for Kabbalat Shabbat 

• Teach songleading as a skill once a month on Sunday mornings  

• Build rapport with students, teachers and clergy team 

• Communicate and update regularly with youth advisor(s), cantor and director of lifelong learning (“DLL”) 

• Meet monthly with DLL and youth advisor(s) 

Qualifications 

• Education Level: High School Degree, with preference for college degree or current college student 

• Work Experience: 2-5 years song leading experience in a similar setting, with preference in synagogue, youth group and/or camp setting(s) 

• Musical Skill Experience: 3+ years of guitar playing, with a preference for those with theory or wider music knowledge 

• Strong leadership skills:  

• Create an environment that cultivates novice-intermediary skills in prayers and song/service leaders, and 

• Communicating needs and vision with supervisors, and 

• Ability to motivate, inspire and manage groups 

• Strong background and experience in 

• Pedagogy 

• Different learning modalities 

• Classroom management 

• Strong communication, organizational, and planning skills 

• Desire and ability to work with children and emerging/young adults 

• Strong knowledge and comfort in Judaic content (Hebrew, text, ritual, holiday) 

• Self-starter and ability to work with the minimum amount of supervision 

• Enthusiasm, patience and strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.  

Reports to DLL and Cantor 

Status: part-time (8-10 hours per month with additional hours as agreed) 

Department: youth and family 

Schedule: First Friday each month, plus one Sunday (to be scheduled with DLL and Cantor), other services/holidays as mutually agreed; one meeting per month , as mutually scheduled, with DLL and Cantor.  And additional preparation time, as needed. 

Salary Range: $300-415 paid monthly
