Position Overview:

Westchester Reform Temple Early Childhood Center in Scarsdale, New York is seeking an enthusiastic, warm and thoughtful head twos teacher to join our dynamic, fun, and creative teaching team for the 2026-2027 school year. At the WRT/ECC, our teachers support children through their first school experience by actively participating in children’s play and care.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and implementing secular and Jewish curriculum and implementing modifications to best suit diverse learners.
  • Leading a teaching team with two assistant teachers, collaborating with ECC leadership and building authentic relationships with families.
  • Attending all staff meetings and professional development workshops as specified on the letter of agreement.
  • Regularly articulating the details of children’s learning with parents/guardians.
  • Preparing for and facilitating parent/teacher conferences twice each school year.
  • Setting up and cleaning up your classroom each day with the support of assistant teachers and facilities team.
  • Participating in CPSE meetings as necessary.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive plan book to document your daily, weekly and monthly lesson plans.
  • Active participation in children’s play and care. This includes frequent reaching, running, sitting on the floor and in small chairs, monitoring for safety, and sitting or standing for extended periods of time.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Early Childhood Certification and/or B.A. with a minimum of 12 credits in child development or early childhood/elementary education, OR NYS Certification (CDA), or actively working toward certification
  • NYS OCFS clearance upon hiring is required
  • Strong knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practice
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth in Early Childhood Education

 

Schedule/Hours:

September 8, 2026, through June 10, 2027

Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-11:45 pm, 12.25 hours per week (with potential afternoon and summer work opportunities for additional compensation)

 

Compensation:

$21,000-  $27,000 (compensation based on experience, education and longevity)
