ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:

Congregation B'nai Tikvah is an egalitarian Conservative synagogue on the North Shore of Chicago. Our goal is to provide a Jewish home for our congregants emphasizing joy and meaningful engagement. With a collaborative staff and clergy we seek to provide spiritual, educational and social offerings for our over 460 family units.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are looking for the next piece of our staff puzzle. A successful candidate is a personable, hardworking and eager team player who is interested in supporting our vibrant, warm and growing congregation.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position works directly with our clergy and supports senior staff by helping with ritual related operations of the synagogue. This role will serve as the central point of contact for our B'nai Mitzvah families, requiring professionalism and the ability to work effectively in a team setting. With an attention to detail this person would be managing multiple projects and responding proactively in a dynamic work environment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • B’nai Mitzvah coordination - dates, calendaring, meetings, packets, honors, meals, photography, Mitzvah Projects, and growing the program.
  • Coordinate ritual donations - Memorial plaques, Simcha board, etc
  • Responsible for funeral notices, member files & coordinating shivas
  • Arrange necessary clergy/congregant meetings & manage ritual calendar 
  • Maintain Yahrzeit, Mishaberach lists, and other lists needed for clergy
  • Produce Shabbat bulletin
  • Handle clergy discretionary fund input & letters
  • Work with clergy & Gabbai’im for High Holidays - Honors & Yizkor book
  • Coordinate & help arrange Bimah Talks and Shabbat Programs
  • Communication about Youth Shabbat programs - ECC- Teen
  • Organize Shabbat and Holiday meals & food related activities
  • Helping with day-before set up, working events as needed, post-event cleanup

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with Word, Google, Canva, Zoom and Excel.
  • Ability to learn new software programs quickly and efficiently
  • Strong organizational, time and project management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow through
  • Motivated self-starter
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Knowledge of Jewish practices and observances

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:

  • Full Time/ in person position Monday-Thursday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Friday 9:00 am - 2:00 pm with the ability to work a varied schedule including periodic evening meetings and weekends.
  • Annual Salary of $43,000 -$47,000
  • Benefits include 5 days PTO, the week between Christmas and New Year's off, 2 weeks paid vacation, closure of office on major and select minor Jewish holidays and Federal holidays.
