?? Part Time ShinShinim Program (gap year) Manager – New York

Looking for a role where you can make a real impact?

The Jewish Agency for Israel’s New York delegation is looking for a ShinShinim Program Manager to lead and oversee our New York ShinShinim program.

ShinShinim are young Israelis who defer their military service for one year to volunteer in Jewish communities abroad, bringing Israel to life through education, personal connections, and community engagement.

This is a unique opportunity to mentor young Israelis during their year of service, work closely with leading Jewish communities and organizations across New York, and play a meaningful role in strengthening the connection between Israel and Jewish communities in the U.S.

The role combines educational leadership, relationship-building, program management, and hands-on operations.

?? Mentoring & Supporting ShinShinim

  • Provide ongoing individual guidance and support to ShinShinim throughout the year.
  • Maintain regular communication with ShinShinim parents in Israel.

?? Community & Partner Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with partner organizations where ShinShinim serve.
  • Conduct regular visits to partner institutions and communities.

?? Host Family Program

  • Recruit, support, and maintain relationships with host families.

?? Collaboration with the Jewish Agency

  • Work closely with Jewish Agency staff in Israel and the U.S.

?? Program Management & Operations

  • Oversee the ShinShinim communal apartment in Brooklyn.
  • Manage the program’s ongoing operating budget.
  • Coordinate with various service providers, including apartment and vehicle-related services.
  • Manage the ShinShinim onboarding process at the beginning of the year, including housing, transportation, equipment, bank accounts, and other logistical needs.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience managing or coordinating educational, community, or social-impact programs — preferred.
  • Experience working with teens or young adults — strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with both Israeli society and the Jewish communal world.
  • Excellent Hebrew and English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships with diverse groups.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational, management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work occasional afternoons, evenings, and weekends based on program needs.

Position Details

?? Part-time position – approximately 30 hours per week
?? Based in Brooklyn, New York
?? The role includes regular travel throughout the greater New York area and visits to partner organizations and communities.
