Part Time Music Coordinator and Song Leader @ B’nai Israel of Southbury, CT

B’nai Israel of Southbury, CT is seeking a part-time Music Coordinator and Song Leader to integrate all aspects of the synagogue music into a consistent and coordinated program.

We are looking for an enthusiastic singer to:

• Lead Reform services approximately twice per month, using traditional and contemporary melodies and Mishkan T’Filah.
• Lead occasional holiday services/ programs (e.g., Purim, Chanukah) and occasional lifecycle events (funerals, shivas).
• Create a spiritual connection with and engage the congregation through music.
• Coordinate with the choir director for special themed and holiday Shabbats.
• Work with Rabbi and volunteer congregant singers to schedule and plan music for each Shabbat service.
• Work with 3-4 B’nai Mitzvah students/families per year to plan the music, attend dress rehearsal, and be the Song Leader for their Friday night and Saturday morning services.
• Be a key contributor to the culture and spirit of our congregation.

We hope to find a candidate who:

• Is a talented singer who is comfortable self-accompanying or singing acapella.
• Has some experience with Judaism, Judaic music, Hebrew, and Reform liturgy.
• Has flexibility to accommodate mutually agreed upon evolving roles and responsibilities.
• Might like an opportunity to grow with us.

Salary: $50 per hour. We anticipate the average number of hours per week to be between 5-10, depending on agreed upon roles and responsibilities.
