Description

Congregation Beth El, a vibrant Conservative congregation in Bethesda, Maryland, is seeking two engaging and knowledgeable leaders to help create meaningful and interactive High Holiday experiences for our youth.

Children's Service Leader (Grades 3-5)

We are seeking an enthusiastic leader to conduct age-appropriate, participatory High Holiday services for children in grades 3–5. These services are designed to foster spiritual connection, learning, and joy through prayer, music, storytelling, and discussion. Services are held on both days of Rosh Hashanah and on Yom Kippur.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Jewish liturgy, High Holiday prayers, and Conservative Jewish practice.
  • Experience leading engaging and interactive services for upper elementary-aged children.
  • Warm, approachable presence with the ability to connect with children.
  • Prior experience in Jewish education, clergy, camp, youth programming, or community leadership is preferred.

Teen Discussion Leader

We are also seeking a dynamic facilitator to lead a series of thought-provoking discussions for teens during the High Holidays. Rather than teaching a traditional lesson, the facilitator will create opportunities for authentic dialogue, helping teens explore the themes of the High Holidays, connect Jewish values to their own lives, and build community with one another. Discussions take place on both days of Rosh Hashanah and on Yom Kippur.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with teens, preferably in Jewish educational, youth, camp, or community settings.
  • Strong facilitation skills and the ability to create engaging, age-appropriate discussions.
  • Ability to foster a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment where all participants feel comfortable sharing their perspectives.
  • Familiarity with Jewish traditions and the themes of the High Holidays.
  • Prior experience in Jewish education, clergy, camp, youth programming, or community leadership is preferred.

Competitive stipend based on experience.
