About The Religious School - The Religious School of Temple Israel of Hollywood in Los Angeles is seeking educators to join our religious school team for the 2026-2027 school year. TIOH is a Reform, progressive synagogue located in the heart of Hollywood.

Position Summary - We're looking for teachers for Sunday mornings for our TK-6th grade program, as well as our 8th grade Teen class. Our Religious School strives to bring joy, build community, and create mensches who will go out and make our world a better place. Our ideal educators bring a love of working with kids and an excitement and enthusiasm for building community and strengthening a love of Judaism for all.

We are looking for:

• Judaic Studies teachers for grades K-3 (Sundays 8:30am-12:30pm)
• Art teacher for grades TK-6 (Sundays 8:30am-12:30pm)
• 8th Grade Teacher (Sundays 9:30am-12:30pm)

 Key Responsibilities:

• Build strong, meaningful relationships with students
• Create fun and engaging lessons based on a given curriculum
• Deliver creative, experiential Jewish education
• Maintain attendance and classroom management
• Supervise students during breaks and specialist sessions
• Work with teaching assistants to support students needs
• Communicate clearly with supervisors and co-teachers
• Follow administrative protocols
• Provide regular communication with parents

Skills for Success:

Required:

• Knowledge and understanding of Jewish values, practice and tradition
• Strong classroom presence and ability to engage students
• Bring creativity, flexibility and strong organizational skills
• Maintain attendance and classroom management
• Basic tech and computer skills (email, Google Drive, etc)

Preferred (but not required):

• Hebrew reading skills and basic Jewish prayer knowledge
• Prior lesson planning experience

Position Requirements:

• Ability to work on site at 7300 Hollywood Blvd. Los Angeles 90046
• Ability to lift and carry materials up to 25 pounds
• Ability to bend, sit on floor, kneel, and bend down with children repeatedly
