Position’s Primary Objectives

  • Build a Robust Volunteer Base: Recruit, train, and support a reliable team of volunteers to ensure all KI programs and events are fully staffed and successful.
  • Run the Volunteer Program: Take charge of the day-to-day operations and paperwork that keep our volunteer system organized and professional.
  • Grow the Community: Be a champion for KI by visiting external organizations to recruit volunteers and educate the community on our mission and Jewish values.
  • Ensure Volunteer Success: Provide the training, resources, and appreciation necessary for volunteers to feel confident and valued in their roles.

Key Responsibilities

1. Volunteer Training & Appreciation

  • Milestone Projects: Oversee meaningful community initiatives, including Bar/Bat Mitzvah projects, school donation drives and more.

2. Recruitment & Community Outreach

  • Network Growth: Proactively visit local Jewish schools, synagogues, and partner organizations to recruit a diverse volunteer base and spread awareness of KI’s impact.
  • Full Lifecycle Management: Lead the entire volunteer journey; from initial application, vetting, and onboarding to active placement and post-event follow-up.
  • Relationship Building: Develop partnerships with other community organizations to access additional resources and support for KI programs.

3. Volunteer Staffing & Administration

  • Ensure Coverage: Coordinate scheduling with Department Leads to ensure all daily activities and special events have the necessary volunteer support; personally cover shifts when essential.
  • Data & Logistics: Maintain meticulous records in our CRM and volunteer apps. Handle reference checks, attendance tracking, and semi-annual evaluations.
  • Digital Engagement: Manage monthly volunteer communications updates and use social media to promote recruitment and celebrate our volunteers' community impact.
  • Back-End Support: Handle the "behind-the-scenes" logistics, including shopping for, picking up, and delivering materials for programs and events.

Requirements

  • Professional Experience: 3+ years in a coordinator or nonprofit leadership role; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office, CRM software, volunteer coordination apps, and social media platforms.

  • Organization: Exceptional time management and organizational skills for prioritizing tasks and maintaining meticulous records.
  • Compassionate, patient, and culturally sensitive. Knowledge of Jewish culture and customs is strongly preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle; ability to lift up to 25 lbs for event supplies.
