Sunday Religious School Teachers

Temple Shalom Religious School is seeking enthusiastic, engaging, and compassionate educators to join our YESh (Youth Engagement at Shalom) team for the upcoming school year. We are currently hiring for the following Sunday morning positions:

  • 1st Grade Teacher

  • 4th Grade Teacher

  • Music Teacher

Whether you have experience teaching in a religious school, classroom, or informal educational setting, we would love to meet educators who are passionate about helping children build meaningful connections to Jewish learning and community.

1st & 4th Grade Teachers

Position Responsibilities

  • Teach an engaging Judaica curriculum (complete curriculum and lesson materials provided)

  • Create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Foster students' love of Jewish traditions, values, and culture

  • Collaborate with fellow faculty and administrators

  • Work alongside assigned student assistants (Madrichim) who help support classroom activities

  • Participate in weekly faculty meetings and school-wide t'fillot (prayer services)

Hebrew teaching experience is a plus, but not required. Teachers with Hebrew language skills may have additional opportunities to teach Hebrew instruction.

Teachers may also have the opportunity to lead specials and elective classes based on their interests, talents, and experience.

Music Teacher

The Music Teacher will inspire students through music while helping them develop a love for Jewish traditions, holidays, and culture.

Position Responsibilities

  • Teach Jewish music to students in Kindergarten through 7th Grade, with a primary focus on Kindergarten through 2nd Grade

  • Lead engaging lessons centered around Jewish holidays, traditions, Hebrew songs, and other Jewish themes

  • Utilize the provided curriculum, including lesson plans, song lists, and music resources

  • Prepare students for holiday celebrations and school programs as needed

  • Collaborate with faculty to enhance students' Jewish educational experience

Qualifications

  • Ability to play guitar or piano/keyboard (required)

  • Experience working with children preferred

  • Passion for music education and Jewish learning

Sunday Schedule

  • 8:40 a.m. – Faculty meeting and breakfast

  • 9:00 a.m. – School-wide Havdalah

  • 9:15–11:40 a.m. – Classroom instruction

  • 11:40 a.m. – Weekly T'fillot
