Position Summary:

Temple Sholom, a welcoming and growing Cincinnati congregation, is seeking a part-time Assistant Rabbi/Educator to oversee its 35+ child educational program for the 2026-2027 school year. This position will also be responsible for contributing to the adult educational programming of Temple Sholom, along with other limited pastoral and congregational rabbinic support.

Compensation + Term:

Reports to and supervised by: Senior Rabbi

Term: July 1st, 2026 – June 30th, 2027

Time Commitment: 20-25 hours/week

Compensation: $45,000-$50,000, depending on experience

Specific Duties + Responsibilities:

  • Youth Educational leadership:
    • In consultation with the Senior Rabbi, develop a curriculum and craft overall vision for the religious school.
    • Be a constant presence at Religious School (Sundays 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.).
      • Guide and/or lead Sunday-morning t’filah.
      • Substitute for absent teachers and periodically serve as a guest teacher in classes.
    • Plan and facilitate holiday, family, and intergenerational programs.
  • Administrative Leadership:
    • Recruit, retain, and prepare teachers and madrichim.
    • Submit a yearly budget with input from Senior Rabbi and Executive Director.
    • Organize and take down any educational materials in common areas each week.
  • Congregational Leadership:
    • Communicate with and develop relationships with families and other members.
    • Plan, lead, and prepare students for monthly grade-level services.
    • Contribute to the adult education calendar with regular educational offerings.
    • Provide pastoral care/pulpit coverage to Senior Rabbi.

Core Qualifications:

  • Rabbinic ordination.
  • Passion about youth Jewish education.

Additional Qualifications: (Not Required for Consideration)

  • Ability to lead/participate in musical portions of t’filah and learning.

Regular Expectations:

  • Attend weekly staff meetings, facilitate monthly education committee meetings, and meet weekly with Senior Rabbi.
  • Be available for family and educational events and other programs, even if not directly responsible for planning/facilitation.
  • Lead monthly grade-level services on Friday evenings.
