A Senior Leadership Role at the Heart of a Vibrant Kehilla

Position Overview

Temple Sinai of Hollywood, a vibrant, inclusive, egalitarian Conservative congregation, seeks an experienced and collaborative Synagogue Administrator to serve as the senior administrative leader of the synagogue. Reporting to the President and working in close partnership with the Rabbi, the Synagogue Administrator oversees operations, finances, facilities, staff, membership, and communications to ensure the effective day-to-day functioning of the congregation. This position is ideal for a seasoned nonprofit or synagogue professional who brings strong operational leadership, financial acumen, and excellent interpersonal skills.

Core Responsibilities

  • Serve as chief administrative leader implementing policies of the Board of Governors.
  • Partner with the Rabbi and President to advance the congregation’s mission and vision.
  • Oversee day-to-day synagogue operations, facilities, security, and campus scheduling.
  • Manage budgeting, financial reporting, bookkeeping oversight, and collections in collaboration with the Treasurer and Bookkeeper.
  • Supervise, support, and evaluate administrative and custodial staff; maintain HR policies and employee handbook.
  • Support fundraising efforts and make recommendations regarding dues, fees, and membership rates.
  • Oversee synagogue communications, records, and calendars.
  • Support Shabbat, holiday services, High Holy Days, and lifecycle events.
  • Assist with membership engagement, recruitment, retention, and lifecycle administration.

 

Qualifications of our Ideal Candidate

  • Management experience in a synagogue, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization.
  • A relationship-driven professional who brings warmth, energy, and emotional intelligence to a visible leadership role within the congregation.
  • Strong financial, organizational, and staff management skills.
  • Excellent communication, diplomacy, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities that foster a welcoming culture of volunteerism, and demonstrates a desire to serve as the public face of the synagogue, while bridging volunteers and staff
  • Ability to recognize necessary changes in priority of tasks and allocation of resources, and act upon them as required to meet workload demands. 
  • Must possess strong organizational and analytical skills in order to identify and resolve problems using sound judgment and effective communication.   
  • Knowledge of synagogue operations, Jewish holidays, and lifecycle events strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Schedule & Compensation

Full-time, salaried position with on-site weekday hours plus evening, weekend, and holiday responsibilities as required/appropriate
