We are seeking a passionate, organized, and collaborative educator to join our team as a Grade 3 Judaic Studies Teacher & Kriah Program Coordinator. This role is ideal for someone who loves teaching elementary students, has strong Hebrew language and Judaic knowledge, and is excited to help support school-wide literacy and Kriah growth.

Position Overview

This unique dual-role position includes:

  • Teaching Grade 3 Judaic Studies for part of the school day
  • Supervising and coordinating the school’s Kriah/Hebrew reading support program during the other portion of the day

The ideal candidate is warm, energetic, growth-oriented, and able to create engaging lessons while also supporting systems, intervention planning, and student progress monitoring within the Kriah program.

Judaic Studies Teaching Responsibilities

The teacher will be responsible for planning and teaching engaging Grade 3 Judaic Studies classes, including:

Subjects Taught

  • Tefilah
  • Ivrit (Hebrew language)
  • Kriah (Hebrew reading)
  • Chumash
  • Chagim/Jewish Holidays
  • Yehadut/Jewish Values and traditions

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Create meaningful and engaging lessons that foster a love of Torah, Hebrew, and Jewish life
  • Differentiate instruction to meet varied student learning needs
  • Support students in developing Hebrew reading fluency and comprehension
  • Teach with warmth, structure, and positive classroom management
  • Foster strong middot, responsibility, and confidence in students
  • Collaborate with general studies and support staff
  • Communicate professionally and positively with parents
  • Assess student growth and maintain student records and report card comments
  • Participate in school events, assemblies, and holiday programming

Kriah Program Coordinator Responsibilities

For the second portion of the day, this educator will oversee and support the school-wide Kriah program.

Responsibilities Include

  • Supervising Kriah intervention and support groups
  • Monitoring student progress in Hebrew reading acquisition
  • Supporting teachers with Kriah resources, assessments, and interventions
  • Helping organize student groupings and schedules
  • Tracking assessment data and student benchmarks
  • Working collaboratively with classroom teachers and administration
  • Supporting consistency and fidelity within the Kriah curriculum/program
  • Assisting with literacy interventions for students needing additional support
  • Helping create systems and structures for continued program growth

Qualifications

Required

  • Background in Judaic Studies and Hebrew language instruction
  • Experience teaching elementary-age students
  • Strong Hebrew reading and language skills
  • Knowledge of Chumash instruction and elementary Judaic curriculum
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Warm, positive, team-oriented personality
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred

  • Experience with Kriah intervention or Hebrew literacy programs
  • Familiarity with differentiated instruction and educational data tracking
  • Experience in a Jewish day school setting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Judaic Studies, or related field
