Position Summary

We are seeking a Donor Officer who is energized by building relationships and inspired by the power of philanthropy to change lives. As a key member of our development team, you will manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, cultivate meaningful connections, and invite transformational acts of generosity that strengthen Jewish Detroit.  You will guide and solicit endowment and planned gifts along with collaborating with volunteer leaders and colleagues across the Federation to advance philanthropic giving. 

This is a dynamic frontline fundraising role, ideal for a professional with several years of experience who is ready to deepen their impact and grow as a leader in Jewish philanthropy. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of donors and prospects, building long-term, values-driven relationships.
  • Solicit and close gifts in partnership with senior development staff and volunteer leaders.
  • Partner with donors to align their philanthropic interests with community priorities.
  • Inspire generosity through thoughtful engagement, personalized stewardship, and bold asks.
  • Collaborate across teams to advance the Federation’s annual campaign and special initiatives.
  • Steward donors through thoughtful engagement, personalized communication, and strategic touchpoints.
  • Maintain accurate records of donor activity and progress within Federation’s CRM system.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or related work.
  • Demonstrated success in cultivating and soliciting gifts.
  • A relationship-builder with excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Supervisory experience a plus, but not required.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems; Microsoft Dynamics experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of AI tools for fundraising and communications a plus.
  • A strong sense of initiative, creativity, and collaborative spirit.
  • Commitment to Jewish values and community.
