Job Title: Vocational Skills Coach
Location: Camp Ramah in the Berkshires, Wingdale, NY
Duration: Summer, part-time (Monday-Friday, minimum of 4 hours/day)
Compensation: $20-$30/hour, based on experience

Role Overview:

Camp Ramah in the Berkshires is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Vocational Skills Coach to support individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism, in a camp setting. The primary responsibility of this role is to mentor and guide participants (employees with mild to moderate support needs) in achieving their personal and professional goals while providing direct coaching and feedback at job sites across camp. Coaches will work with a small group of 1-3 individuals, helping them develop job skills, manage schedules, and ensure a positive camp experience. The position is supervised by the Director of Community Care and Inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct Support & Coaching: Provide one-on-one mentorship and observe participants at their job sites to offer feedback and guidance on job skills.
  • Program Development: Develop individualized coaching plans and strategies to help participants meet their goals.
  • Job Skills Training: Teach and reinforce job skills, including time management, task completion, and teamwork.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Track participant progress, adjust strategies as necessary, and maintain accurate records of interactions and outcomes.
  • Communication & Coordination: Serve as a liaison between participants, camp staff, and families to ensure smooth communication and coordination of care.
  • Mentorship: Foster a supportive and inclusive environment, encouraging independence and personal growth.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred Experience: Experience working with adults with disabilities, particularly in vocational, social work, or special education settings.
  • Skills: Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate and empower others.
  • Training: All staff are required to attend pre-camp training.
