Director, Older Adult Transportation Services

Program Overview

Many older adults face challenges that limit their independence, including concerns about personal safety, medical disabilities, financial hardship, fear of crime, or mobility issues that make public transportation difficult. To address these barriers, we provide comprehensive and reliable Older Adult Transportation Services throughout Brooklyn, with group trips available in Staten Island. The program serves adults aged 60 and older—including many Holocaust survivors—helping them remain active and engaged in their communities. Services include individual rides to medical and other essential appointments, group van shuttles to Older Adult Centers, and group bus trips for educational, recreational, and shopping activities.

Position Summary

The Director of Operations, Older Adult Transportation Program is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and administration of this complex, multi-funded program. The Director ensures high-quality, contract-compliant services while fostering strong community partnerships and maintaining accountability across all aspects of program delivery.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations, coordination, and administration of the Older Adult Transportation Program.
• Prepare and submit funding applications, statistical reports, and other required documentation in a timely manner.
• Ensure compliance with all contractual service levels, funding requirements, and vendor agreements.
• Lead active outreach efforts in collaboration with community-based organizations, senior centers, senior housing developments, elected officials, and social service agencies to identify and serve eligible older adults.
• Monitor and manage the monthly transportation budget to prevent over-expenditures.
• Address and resolve client concerns to maintain high levels of satisfaction.
• Provide oversight and resolution of issues between clients, the agency, and transportation providers.
• Serve as the primary liaison with governmental agencies, funding sources, auditors, and private sector partners to ensure accountability and contract compliance.
• Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with elected officials, community boards, funders, and local social service providers.
• Supervise and support program staff and volunteers, ensuring effective program outreach and service delivery.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Human Services or related filed required. Masters Degree a plus.
• Minimum 2 years managerial experience in a government-funded non-profit, human services or in managing transportation services.
• Excellent leadership and supervisory skills.
• Knowledge of transportation program management, including scheduling, vendor coordination, and client service delivery a plus.
• Strong organizational and project management skills to oversee multiple program components simultaneously.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to represent the program with funders, community stakeholders, and elected officials.
• Proficiency in budget management, data tracking, and reporting tools.
• Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills to address client and vendor issues promptly and effectively.
• Relationship-building skills.
• Ability to balance administrative, operational, and community-facing responsibilities in a high-demand environment.
• Ability to ensure accountability and compliance with diverse funding streams and vendor agreements.
• Ability to promote a client-centered approach while maintaining organizational standards and compliance.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Comfortable working in a technology-driven environment and leveraging digital tools for productivity.

Job Type: On-Site

Pay range: $125-145,000 annual
