Director of Engagement and Programing

Director of Engagement and Programming (Contra Costa, onsite) 

The Contra Costa JCC is seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Community Engagement and Programming to lead the design, development, and execution of meaningful programs and events that bring our community together. This experienced leader will be responsible for creating and curating both small and large-scale events, collaborating with CCJCC community partners, fostering strong relationships across diverse populations, and enhancing the visibility and impact of the CCJCC throughout the Contra Costa region.  

We are looking for a strategic thinker and creative collaborator with understanding of Jewish culture and community life in Contra Costa. This role requires a relationship-builder who thrives in a fast-paced, people-centered environment and has experience working with the Jewish community.  

Position overview:  

• Design and deliver intellectually engaging, culturally resonant programs for all ages, deepening community connections.  
   

• Partner with staff, stakeholders, and collaborators to bring program concepts to life- from ideation to full execution.  

• Develop a comprehensive calendar of programs that align with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.  

• Maintain strong community ties between events through personal outreach- emails, phone calls, coffee meetups, and more.  

• Attract new participants, grow existing audiences, and elevate the JCC’s visibility in the broader Contra Costa community.  

• Work closely with the Marketing Manager to craft compelling promotional campaigns for programs and events.  

• Spearhead large community celebrations, including annual Jewish holiday programs, in partnership with staff and community partners.  

• Build and sustain collaborative partnerships with local organizations and internal teams to amplify impact and reach.  

• Design and deploy evaluation metrics to track attendance, assess satisfaction, and gather input for future planning.  

• Oversee budget development, tracking, and adherence to all community engagement programs.  

• Coordinate contracts, venues, logistics, and booking of speakers or performers.  

• Collaborate with Development on grant reporting, story collection, and impact documentation.  

Qualifications  

• Minimum of 3 years of experience leading program development, with proven supervisory experience, preferably within the Jewish community.  

• Strong knowledge of Jewish culture, holidays, and traditions.  

• Knowledge of the East Bay Jewish Community is a must   

• Skilled in planning, scheduling, and executing both small and large events.  

• Excellent relationship management and customer service skills.  

• Experience in nonprofit and/or educational settings is a must.  

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.  

• Highly organized, goal-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.  

• Comfortable lifting to 40 lbs and working evenings/weekends as needed. 

• Must reside in the Contra Costa/ Walnut Creek area  

This is a part-time position (20-30 hours per week) with the potential of becoming a full-time role.
