Hebrew Teacher for grades 2 - 7

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Hebrew teacher to join our active teaching team at Temple Beth Sholom Hebrew School teaching Hebrew to grades 2-7.

About the Role

This is a core, ongoing position within our school. You will be part of an active and collaborative team of educators deeply committed to Jewish education. The focus of this role is building students' Hebrew reading skills so they can confidently recite prayers - making it both meaningful and impactful.

Responsibilities include

• Teaching Hebrew reading to students in grades 2–7
• Building foundational skills in Hebrew decoding and prayer recitation
• Adapting instruction to different age groups and learning levels
• Being an active and integrated member of the school’s overall teaching team

Schedule & Location:

• Schedule: Sundays, September through May, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• Compensation: Hourly compensation
• Location: Temple Beth Sholom, 1809 Whitney Ave, Hamden, CT

We’re looking for someone who

Required:

• Has solid knowledge of Hebrew reading and the Hebrew alphabet
• Has the ability to teach Hebrew confidently to children
• Has experience working with children or a background in education or youth programming
• Is patient, warm, and passionate about Hebrew language and Jewish education
• Is a true team player – our staff works closely together and being part of the team is essential

A plus:

• Native or fluent Hebrew speaker – Israeli background very welcome!
• Creative and flexible, with the ability to engage students of different ages
