Temple Israel of West Palm Beach is seeking enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and engaging educators to join our Religious School team. As a vibrant Reform congregation with more than 100 years of history in Palm Beach County, Temple Israel is committed to inspiring students to form their Jewish identity, cultivate a love of Jewish life, and develop a strong understanding of Reform Judaism. Our educators help create meaningful, interactive learning experiences that connect students to Jewish values, traditions, Hebrew, prayer, holidays, Israel, and community in a warm and welcoming environment. 

Temple Israel’s Religious School program strives to make Jewish learning engaging, experiential, and joyful. We utilize a multi-age classroom model across three divisions: Lower Elementary, Elementary, and Middle School fostering peer connection, differentiated learning, and a close-knit community within each age group. Teachers play an important role in helping students build connections to Judaism, community, and one another.  

The Religious School Teacher is responsible for implementing and adapting the curriculum, creating lesson plans, and fostering a warm, fun, and engaging classroom environment that supports student learning and growth. 

Responsibilities 

  • Teach Religious School on Sundays from 9:30 am – 11:45 am  
  • Implement curriculum and create lesson plans to meet student needs  
  • Foster a positive, engaging, and welcoming classroom environment  
  • Participate in weekly student t’filah (prayer) experiences led by the rabbis  
  • Communicate regularly with clergy and staff regarding student progress and classroom needs  
  • Support students in building connections to Jewish values, holidays, traditions, and community  

Qualifications 

  • Warm, compassionate, and engaging Jewish educator  
  • Teaching or classroom experience preferred  
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills  
  • Knowledge of Reform Judaism, Jewish holidays, rituals, prayers, and traditions  
  • Ability to create meaningful and interactive learning experiences for children  
  • Hebrew knowledge a plus, but not required  

Competitive pay: $90-125 per Religious School Session, additional pay for faculty meetings and trainings
