Intermediate Biblical Hebrew Instructor

The Rabbinical School of Hebrew College is looking for an instructor for Intermediate Biblical Hebrew, a year-long course during the 2026-2027 academic year. 

 Course Description

This course is designed to sharpen students’ Biblical Hebrew reading and translation skills across two semesters. It builds on skills that were covered in Introduction to Biblical Hebrew, a year-long survey of Biblical Hebrew. The first semester of Intermediate Biblical Hebrew offers an intensive review of key grammatical and syntactical concepts that were introduced in the Introduction to Biblical Hebrew. The second semester builds on this foundation by focusing on syntax as well as exploring more advanced and irregular aspects of Biblical Hebrew grammar.

There is no pre-set curriculum for this course, so the ideal candidate will be prepared to develop a curriculum adapted to the skill levels of students in the course. Topics to be covered include a review of verb and noun morphology and an exploration of common syntactic patterns, with considerable latitude to develop additional themes and topics pending instructor and student interest. 

Because most students are simultaneously enrolled in a year-long Bereishit course, the instructor may choose to align course readings and topical studies with the progression of the Bereishit curriculum.  

The course meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:30-4:00 pm, throughout the academic year. Compensation is $7500 per semester.
