Conservative Synagogue in Alexandria, Virginia seeks talented Accounts Receivable/Payable Clerk to serve as organization’s membership and accounting coordinator. Congregation has a third-party accounting firm for bookkeeping processes. Full-time, some remote work optional.
Responsibilities:
· Provide Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable support, working with the Executive Director, and Department Heads (Religious School, Preschool, Food Department) for coding and submitting receivables and payables for processing,
· Serve as member of organization’s support team, aiding members in donations and payments,
· Provide customer support for the members as it relates to the membership database (Shulcloud)
· Technology: data entry into organization’s membership database, (Shulcloud which syncs to Quickbooks), including creating new membership accounts, and creating reports as needed. Manage monthly member statement preparation, tuition statements, payment processing of credit cards and checks and preparing deposits.
· Programs: provide support as required with event registration and donations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
· Minimum of 3 or more years of office accounting/financial experience required, preferably in a non-profit or congregational environment
· Flexibility and a strong customer service ethic
· Ability to work independently and proactively with a goal-oriented approach in learning and mastering the membership infrastructure.
· Ability to multi-task in a busy work environment
· Excellent communication and decision-making skills
· Must exhibit attention to detail and accuracy
· Bookkeeping proficiency in: accounts receivable and payable, preparing and analyzing financial reports a plus
