Development Manager 

Congregation BJBE seeks a part time fundraising professional to oversee our philanthropic efforts through annual giving  (including major gifts), events, planned giving, and capital gifts as needed. This is a new position created to help meet  the needs of the Congregation and will work closely with BJBE’s Clergy, Executive Director and Development Committee.  The ideal candidate is creative and nuanced, disciplined and professional, and passionate about these projects and  work.

Job Requirements 

? Oversee the day-to-day implementation and coordination of all aspects of giving to BJBE (annual & major gifts,  events, capital needs, planned giving, etc) including: 

o communications 

o gift processing and donor records maintenance in conjunction with the Director of Finance &  Technology 

o gift acknowledgement letters 

o donor recognition and stewardship activities 

? Identify and organize a pipeline of prospective, new, and increased donors 

? Plan the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors, and all necessary follow-up

? Collaborate with BJBE leadership, staff, and clergy on the Gala and other events with fundraising goals

? Coordinate parlor meetings and other events with prospecting and stewardship goals 

? Serve as the lead staff for the Development Committee and the BJBE Endowment Fund 

? Assist in supporting the F360 and Gala Committees 

? Work on funding for capital needs as needed 

? Work in collaboration with all BJBE departments—BJBE believes strongly in interdepartmental collaboration and  expects all staff to work in close partnership with each other 

? Be present and support key engagement functions throughout the year as determined by the Executive Director ? Other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director 

Required Qualifications and Experience 

? 5 or more years of professional experience in development, non-profit management, or a related field

? Demonstrated in-depth experience with cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors

? Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with a proven record of creating and fostering excellent  relationships between donors and an institution 

? The ability to motivate and work effectively with volunteers and Board members  

? Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects without  compromising quality 

? The ability to work independently and to have an open and collaborative management style, characteristic of a  team player 

? Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills to express messages concisely and the ability to  effectively interface with senior leadership, volunteers, and staff 

? Excellent computer skills including in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace  

? Ability to maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, external constituents and other  organizations 

? Experience in a Jewish community or synagogue preferred
