Friends of United Hatzalah is the U.S. non-profit charitable organization that supports United Hatzalah of Israel – the largest independent, non-profit, fully volunteer emergency medical service (EMS) organization that provides the fastest emergency medical care in Israel, completely free of charge. Our goal is to provide immediate lifesaving medical intervention during the critical window between the onset of an emergency and the arrival of traditional ambulance assistance.
United Hatzalah’s services are available to all people regardless of race, religion, or national origin. Job Description:
Friends of United Hatzalah seeks a Southeast Development Director to join our expanding US-based team. This full-time position is based in our Miami, Florida headquarters on a hybrid in-office work schedule and reports to the Global Chief Development Officer (GCDO). The SE Development Director will be responsible for leading and growing philanthropic revenue across the SE region through major gifts, regional strategy, donor stewardship, and community engagement. This role serves as the primary development leader in the region and works in close partnership with national development, operations, and executive leadership to advance organizational priorities. The ideal candidate is a strategic fundraiser with strong relationship-building skills, has a proven track record in raising major gifts and managing a small team of major gift fundraisers, and the ability to represent the organization with credibility among high-level donors, board members, and community stakeholders. The SE director will also work closely with the President and Founder of United Hatzalah during their extensive visits to the SE region, which includes the planning and execution of an annual Miami Gala that generates multi-million dollars in revenue.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regional Fundraising & Revenue Growth
- Develop and execute a comprehensive regional fundraising strategy aligned with national goals.
- Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, with responsibility for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Identify and grow new donor relationships, with a focus on major and leadership-level gifts.
- Meet or exceed annual revenue goals for the SE region.
- Lead and coordinate regional fundraising efforts across individual giving, events, and other revenue streams in partnership with SE-based staff.
- Team Leadership & Management
- Directly manage and mentor the SE-based fundraising and development team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and results.
- Set clear performance expectations, goals, and metrics for regional staff aligned with annual fundraising targets in coordination with the GCDO.
- Provide coaching, professional development, and regular performance feedback to SE team to advance professional growth and retention.
- Donor Engagement & Stewardship
- Design and execute donor engagement opportunities, including small gatherings, cultivation events, and one-on-one meetings.
- Provide high-level oversight of gala fundraising strategy, including revenue goals, sponsorships, donor engagement, and stewardship.
- Partner with events, marketing, executive leadership, and operations teams to ensure successful planning and execution of annual gala.
- Partner with stewardship and communications teams to ensure timely, meaningful donor recognition and reporting.
- Board Partnership and Affinity Groups:
- Partner with regional and national board members to support fundraising efforts.
- Support board giving, donor introductions, and strategic engagement.
- Develop and implement strategy for local affinity groups such as Women’s Initiative and Young Leadership in local market that aligns with national objectives.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates will demonstrate the following:
- Minimum 7 years' experience in similar or related role
- Bachelor’s Degree required, master's degree preferred
- Demonstrated success securing six and seven-figure gifts
- Strong knowledge of the Southeast and South Florida philanthropic landscape and donor community
- Experience managing a team of sales or fundraising professionals
- High degree of comfort interacting with high-net-worth prospects and donors
- Skilled in relationship development with donors, lay leaders and colleagues
- Highly organized, detail-oriented
- Experience with CRM systems required; Salesforce preferred
- Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to utilize different forms of relevant communication to advance organizational objectives and inspire colleagues and supporters

Salary range: $160,000- $180,000 per year, with comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, retirement plan with employer match, and generous paid holidays/time off.
